Noteworthy Waterfalls to Visit in Bali: A Guide for Travelers (Part 2 – North Bali Edition)
When most travelers think about Bali, places like Seminyak, Canggu, or Ubud usually come to mind first. But beyond the beaches and busy streets, North Bali offers a completely different side of the island , quieter roads, cooler weather, mountain scenery, and some of Bali’s most beautiful waterfalls.
Compared to waterfalls in central or southern Bali, many waterfalls in the north feel more natural and less crowded. Some require a bit of trekking, while others are easy to access and perfect for a relaxed stop during your trip. Whether you enjoy nature, photography, swimming, or simply exploring places outside the usual tourist route, North Bali has plenty worth discovering.
Here are several noteworthy waterfalls in North Bali that deserve a spot on your itinerary
1. Sekumpul Waterfall
Location: Buleleng Regency, North Bali
Getting There: Around 2.5–3 hours drive from Ubud or South Bali, followed by a trekking path with stairs and stream crossings.
Highlights: Probably one of the most impressive waterfalls in Bali, with multiple cascades surrounded by jungle scenery. The trek can be a bit tiring, but the view at the end absolutely makes up for it.
2. Gitgit Waterfall

3. Aling Aling Waterfall
Location: Sambangan Village, North Bali
Getting There: Around 20–30 minutes from Singaraja, followed by a short trek down to the waterfall area
Highlights: Best known for its natural slides and cliff jumping spots, Aling-Aling is a fun choice for travelers who want something more than just sightseeing. Expect a bit of adventure here.
While the main waterfall itself is considered sacred and mainly viewed from a distance, nearby waterfalls such as Kroya are used for adventure activities with local guides. This makes Aling-Aling a good choice for travelers who want something beyond regular sightseeing. Worth the trek!
4. Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall
Location: Wanagiri Area, North Bali
Getting There: Around 15–20 minutes from Bedugul with a relatively manageable forest trekking path

Why Explore Waterfalls in North Bali?
One of the best things about North Bali is how different the atmosphere feels compared to the south. The roads are quieter, the air feels cooler, and the scenery slowly changes into mountains, forests, coffee plantations, and small local villages. Even the drive itself feels like part of the experience.
You could also combine waterfall hopping with nearby areas like Munduk, Lovina, or Bedugul, which makes North Bali perfect for a full-day trip or even a short overnight escape. Most waterfalls here are also located in higher areas, so expect cooler weather and a refreshing break from Bali’s coastal heat.
After exploring some of Bali’s popular waterfall spots in Part 1, this time we are heading further north , where the atmosphere feels quieter, greener, and a little more off-the-beaten-path.
If you want to see a different side of Bali beyond the usual beach clubs and busy tourist areas, North Bali is definitely worth exploring. From jungle trails and hidden waterfalls to cooler mountain scenery, this side of the island feels slower, calmer, and more connected to nature.
